Grappenhall FC Club History

Grappenhall Sports FC was originally formed in 1962 and has always been based at the Stockton Lane playing fields in Grappenhall, Warrington. In recent years the club has experienced a rejuvenation and had it’s third clubhouse in the last half century built on the existing ground, now in a happy partnership with Grappenhall Lawn Tennis Club and Grappenhall Sports Juniors. The new modern clubhouse was opened in 2006 and has bar and private function facilities as well as separate Football and Tennis changing areas. The football club have sides from ages 7 and upwards and have 3 senior pitches and 2 mini football pitches to cater for all ages and skill levels. The current crop of Football talent was born when Lymm Rangers FC and Grappenhall Sports FC merged in 2004 to initially form Stockton Lane FC. Stockton Lane won the coveted Warrington Guardian Cup in 2006 and was the finalist (as Grappenhall Sports) in 2007 losing on penalties to Warrington Town reserves after a 3-3 draw at Rylands FC. Many of the players have been at the club since childhood and the club now runs 3 senior teams boasting 60 registered players.

The club is run on a voluntary basis by a handful of hard workers from each of the different sporting sections. Much work has been put into raising the profile of the club and it’s members hope to continue to improve, joining the CAFL was a major goal and the club look forward to challenging for honours in it’s first full season in the league.

The Pub Support Company and Event Sound Ltd sponsor the club, many thanks for their support.
