![]() Brief Club History: Maine Road FC was formed in 1955, and they gained their name from the Maine Road Social Club in Moss Side, which was once their headquarters. Maine Road FC is now recognized as one of Manchester’s most exciting clubs in the Semi-Professional pyramid. For over 20 years the first team have played in the North West Counties League with a reputation for entertaining football, successful youth development and outstanding player loyalty. Success on the field in recent years for the first team has been in the prestigious Manchester Premier Cup (Winners 1988 and Runners Up 1999 & 2005) and with reputable League finishes in the NWCL against teams with much greater resources. Maine Road Reserves act as an Academy for future Road 1st team players, and since joining the MCFL from the NWCL Reserve Division in 2004, have enjoyed Cup success (Mid Cheshire Division 2 League Cup Winners 2005, Manchester Amateur Cup Winners 2005 & 2007) by playing good football in the right spirit (Mid Cheshire League Fair Play winners 2005 & 2007). Maine Road’s current fortunes have been built on the success of the club during the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s & 1980s when the club won many honours as the club progressed up through the Manchester leagues. Players from these teams have then stayed with the club and now form the committee which guides Maine Road forward.
