10 March 2010 - FA Community Awards

This year’s awards that have now been amalgamated in to The FA Community Awards that cover a number of categories. District FA’s are able to nominate clubs, leagues or individuals for any of the awards.  The nomination forms have already been sent direct to all Charter Standard Clubs and Leagues as well as all non charter standard clubs and leagues for them to submit nominations to the Cheshire County Football Association.

The deadline for the nomination forms to be returned to the County FA is the 12th April 2010 and the deadline for the County FA to submit their County Winners is the 26th April 2010, therefore each district will need to select their winners in the following categories by the 19th April 2010. Apologies for the short timescales, however these are to meet the FA deadlines for nominations.

     ·         Adult Volunteer of the year award

·         Youth Volunteer of the year award

·         Coach of the Year

·         Outstanding contribution of the year award.

Once you have selected your winners in each category you need to forward this information to the County FA by no later than 19th April 2010 so that the County Awards can be determined. Last year a volunteer from Cheshire won the National Volunteer of the Year Award and won an all expenses paid day out to the FA Community Shield.

Across the county, people are working hard week in and week out to provide a professional, fun and rewarding football experience for the local community and we are delighted that The FA and McDonald’s have recognised these clubs and individuals with the Community Awards. This is a great opportunity for us to celebrate the dedication and commitment shown by clubs, coaches and volunteers across the County and so we’d urge people to nominate. Please contact the League Secretary @ cflleaguesecretary@googlemail.com for the nomination forms.

10 March 2010 - Respect & Fair Play Awards 09/10

These awards will be presented at the FA Cup Final in May by The FA’s President Prince William. The winners will receive 2 x FA Club ticket to the match, FA Club hospitality, a certificate, an award and a cash prize.

The awards application form is attached (in word and as a PDF booklet), anyone can nominate either themselves or others but the League categories are reserved to the 750 Leagues that have committed themselves to the Respect programme.

16 February 2010 - England Football Day

28 January 2010 - Knutsford are stopped in their tracks

Knutsford Football Club endured a break in at their Manchester Road ground, sometime last Wednesday evening / Thursday morning when the club's tractor was stolen. It was a quite targeted mission with, fortunately, no other part of the club grounds or facilities tampered with. No vandalism or attempts at entry elsewhere only to the equipment shed where we housed our tractor.

The building is, as secure as possible, with heavy duty steel slats and a heavy duty lock affixed but the thieves broke in with a purpose to steal probably what can be regarded as the club's most vital asset in equipment terms. It was probably stolen to order and might be some distance away by now but the Police are carrying out enquiries and it might be worth noting if any club within our League is offered such equipment or any information that somebody might have, as they say no matter how trivial it might seem, to contact me through the available channels.

The tractor is quite distinctive sports type and quite rare and is an ISEKO 2140 compact machine with turf tyres.

It has distinguishing features, such as an extended funnel missing and is a 4 x wheel drive but has a prop shaft missing.

Please be wary of any approaches and also ensure club's have as secure as possible facility to house any equipment.

Our tractor was in heavy usage during the week and as well as pulling our mowing equipment was used for a variety of purposes to maintain our ground and facilities. It is a massive loss to us.

18 January 2010 - President's Cup abandoned for 2nd season

Due to the snow, ice and general bad weather that afflicted the country meaning that 5 consecutive Saturdays went by with no football played in the Cheshire League, it has been decided by the LMC that the President's Cup competition for 2009/10 season be abandoned. This will ensure that all teams are able to complete their programme of League fixtures, allowing for any more bad weather that may arise in the coming months.

13 December 2009  - Steven Lloyd Appointed Inter League Manager
