28 April 2008 - Cancer Research UK's Run for Moore (Bobby Moore Fund)
I have played in the Cheshire League for various teams most
recently Witton Albion FC and Daten. As a Warrington lad I know that football is
very close to people's hearts. With this in mind I would like to gain some
support from the League and its players, officials etc. 1st June at Manchester's Heaton Park.
The event is a men only event and is in memory of all the
people we have lost or who are suffering from bowel cancer. In fact my own
father sadly passed away a month ago at the age of 52 from this terrible
disease. 1 in 3 of us at some point will be diagnosed with bowel cancer with a staggering 1 in 4 of us passing away with the disease; so as you can see it is a valid cause to raise funds for.
Maybe a little healthy competition for a good cause off the
football pitch could make for a fantastic day.

This will be a multi-angle recording which means a different perspective on the match more like that used by Sky TV and Setanta rather than the static single position recording. This opportunity has presented itself to the League ahead of this weekend's semi finals which will see Pilkington v Warrington Town Reserves & Greenalls Padgate St Oswalds v Witton Albion Reserves. The League will also benefit from some exposure as the media company look to promote their service in the North West. 17 April 2008 - Forget the Jackson Five! Forget the Jackson Five, just remember the Clarke Trio.........that is Alan Clarke's trio of sons who play for Garswood United Reserves. Back in March they had the Cheshire League historians scrabbling for the record books after they all took the field in the match versus Eagle Sports Reserves. Not only did Barry, Allan & Daniel all play in the match but they also all scored in their team's 4-1 victory. Their proud Dad, Alan Clarke, well known to match officials and players alike, said " I hope this does not cost me 3 Mars bars". He further explained that when they were younger, he would buy the lads a Mars bar if they scored a goal. Garswood United are proud to claim this League first and hope the lads can repeat the feat for years to come!
15 April 2008 - ENGLAND COMING TO THE TAMESIDE STADIUM
Goals meanwhile will be expected from the likes of Bertie
Brayley. Brayley this season has been playing for Chelmsford City who have been
crowned champions of the Ryman Premier League. Nine years ago in 1999, Bertie
was scoring in the FA Youth Cup Final in the same side as Joe Cole and Michael
Carrick in a 9-0 aggregate win over Coventry City, who featured Chris Kirkland
in their goal.
Media Notes:
14 April 2008 - Press Report First Division The tension is rising in all divisions of the Cheshire league as the race for the title hots up and relegation looms large at the bottom. Midweek results did not favour top side Pilkington as they drew 2-2 at home with Crosfields before losing 2-0 away to current champions Middlewich Town. However, the league is full of twists and turns as Middlewich went on to lose 2-1 at home to fierce rivals Barnton in a highly competitive fixture. Greenalls Padgate St Oswald may feel their chances of winning the title are slipping out of their grasp as they lost 5-2 in an eventful game at Knutsford. The home side took the lead but Greenalls brought the sides level just before the break when Rob Hanley scored from the spot. Fergus Morris put Greenalls ahead in the 55th minute but then disaster struck as Greenalls were reduced to nine men and Knutsford took control, scoring four goals to go on and win the game. A 3-0 midweek win over Linotype Cheadle Heath Nomads saw Curzon Ashton Reserves climb into third spot as they keep one eye on a second piece of silverware, having already won the JB Parker Cup. Pilkington remain top of the table and six points clear of second place Styal, having played five more games. Curzon Ashton are nine points behind the leaders, with three games in hand, Greenalls also sit nine points behind, with four games in hand, while Middlewich Town are fourteen points behind the leaders, but have six games in hand. The title race has never been so open and with four weeks left of the season, anything is possible. At the bottom, things are also looking tight as second from bottom, Rylands stormed to 3-1 win over bottom side Poynton. This was an important victory for the Warrington side as it now puts them within two points of safety as Trafford Reserves sit third from bottom. However, Trafford have three games in hand over their closest opponents, while Poynton have played four games less than Rylands, meaning the relegation battle could very well go down to the last game of the season. Division Two FC United Reserves title hopes suffered another blow as they lost 3-1 at home to Billinge in midweek as Phil Dixon bagged a hat trick to secure their spot in second place. Club AZ’s chances of promotion were also dented as they lost 2-1 mid week to Broadheath Central, before losing 3-1 away at Tarporley Victoria. Billinge now sit ten points behind FC United, with three games in hand, while Club AZ sit in third place, twelve points behind the leaders, with four games more left to play. Warrington Town sneaked a 3-2 winner over Monk FC on Tuesday night, after being 2-1 down with ten minutes to go At the other end of the table, Lostock Gralam lifted themselves out of the bottom two and were replaced by Monk FC who they beat 4-2, this followed on form their 1-1 draw with Crewe FC on Wednesday. Malpas sneaked a 1-0 win over Congleton Town Reserves, which sees them climb into 12th spot, while Eagle Sports beat Daten 1-0. Reserve Division The only game in the Reserve division was played out between Pilkington and Poynton who both have their eye on the league title. The game was played in an extremely competitive manner, with both sides pushing hard for a goal. However, despite both sides having their chances, neither were able to break the deadlock before half time. The second half continued in the same manner, with the ball being passed from end to end as both sides took their chances in front of goal. The scoring was finally opened in the 76th minute with an impressive individual run by Duncan Warrender. Pilkington increased their drive and pressured Poynton ‘keeper Sam Davidson, but were unable to convert their chances. Pilks then suffered a massive blow, when creative midfielder Alex Power was substituted due to injury. Poynton made an attacking substitution and brought on striker Scott Bajic, replacing Dave Williams. This had an immediate impact and eventually secured the win for Poynton as Bajic made it 2-0 in the 89th minute. This win sees Poynton climb back into second spot, five points behind leaders Styal with a game in hand. The two sides have already played each other home and away, but both have to play Middlewich Town which is always a competitive fixture. President’s Cup Warrington Town Reserves secured their second victory of the week with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Daten Reserves, while Crewe FC were awarded the win in their tie as Rylands Reserves were unable to field a team.

Crosfields & Rylands are joining forces from season 2008/09 as they move forward with this new venture. Combining the skills and enthusiasm that exists in both clubs, they are planning to combat the recent decline in open age football to ensure that the new club to be named "Crosfields Rylands FC" will exist for many seasons to come. 09 March - Club News Barnton utility player Paul Allen has been selected for the England Deaf Cricket team (ECAD) who play Australia in the "Deaf Ashes" series to be held this summer. Paul has been a regular member of ECAD for a number of years and has previously toured Australia and played in the "Deaf World Cup" held in India, where they were beaten in the final by the host nation. Paul has also attended several ECAD training weekends held at venues throughout the country in the winter months. He has also taken on the captain's role at Christleton CC and has arranged a warm up game against the ECAD in preparation for "the Ashes." 15 September 2007 - Goalpost Safety update This e-mail is sent for clarification purposes, as some enquiries have been received questioning the position with metal cup hooks on any part of the goal frame. http://www.thefa.com/GrassrootsNew/Facilities/SafetyAndRegulations/Postings/2004/02/GoalPostSafety The attached link to The FA's web site, states that metal cup hooks on any part of the goal are not permitted and as such matches will be postponed by match officials where these hooks are evident. I should be grateful if you would advise all relevant personnel, including local leagues, referees societies, etc, of this news to ensure a clear and consistent message is relayed across the country. I have also attached images of net fixings which are deemed compliant following the recent British Standards work, so matches where these fixings are apparent are not affected.
Thanks you for your ongoing help with this matter. Regards, Steve Williams National Facilities Manager The Football Association 25 Soho Square London W1D 4FA T +44 (0) 20 7745 4757 F +44 (0) 20 7745 5757 |
