To see how far efficiency can go, I visited one of the newest and smallest power plants in Austin. Forget smokestacks and huge transmission lines: this plant is actually a modest three bedroom house in the Allandale neighborhood, right off Burnet Road. It classified as a Zero home, meaning it produces as much energy as it uses.
Iowa’s 3rd District, Republican David Young: Democrat Jim Mowrer, who tried to unseat neighboring Rep. Steve King in 2014, is now challenging the first term Young. Democrats released a poll that showed the Democrat within striking distance, and they’re trying to tie Young to Trump in a district that has tightened after the tape was released and women came forward accusing the GOP nominee of groping them.

In December 1962, Kennedy offered a blunt summary of the Castro/Che record. “The Cuban people were promised by the revolution political liberty, social justice, intellectual freedom, land for the campesinos, and an end to economic exploitation,” he said. “They have received a police state, the elimination of the dignity of land ownership, the destruction of free speech and a free press, and the complete subjugation of individual human welfare.” Eleven months later, in a speech intended for delivery on the day he was assassinated, Kennedy regretted that Castro’s “Communist foothold” in Latin America had “not yet been eliminated.”.
So Light and Miller ran a number of statistical analyses to more clearly isolate the effects of illegal immigration from those other factors. Among other things, they find that the relationship between high levels of illegal immigration and low levels of crime persists even after controlling for various economic and demographic factors such as age, urbanization, labor market conditions and incarceration rates. All told, Light and Millersliced the data 57 ways to see whether there was anything they missed, but not one of their analyses showed any positive relationship between illegal immigration and crime. They concluded that not only does illegal immigrationnot increase crime, but it may actually contribute to the drop in overall crime rates observed in the United States in recent decades.”Our study calls into question one of the primary justifications for the immigration enforcement buildup,” Light and Miller concluded.
